Transmission & Distribution and Smart Grids Europe 2012 brings a cross sectional group of representatives from utilities, regulators, suppliers and consultants to engage in a real dialogue and learn about the future of electricity networks, with its market drivers, new developments and key challenges.
The programme will offer a comprehensive picture of where we are today, where we need to be tomorrow and what needs to happen in terms of regulation, technology and strategy to realize the smart grid with its full potential.
On the distribution/smart grid side our speakers will focus on all important issues, such as:
- the extent of regulation in deregulated markets,
- the importance of network automation for the grid efficiency and reliability
- demand – response to manage peak load consumption
- new developments in electrical vehicle, virtual power plants, home energy management and smart meters
- most up-to date cutting edge R&D and smart grid demonstration projects
On the transmission side they will address:
- new tools to increase transfer capacity and integrate large scale renewable sources, in particular offshore wind and solar
- how to enhance cooperative and flexible operation with the aim of the creating a single European market
- how to cope with permit limitations and high costs of new grid infrastructures
