General Information

Prepare your business for the changing energy market!

On January 23 the European Commission proposed the Green Package designed to help the European Union to meet its goal of reducing Europe’s carbon emissions by 20 percent in 2020.

The Renewable Energy Directive, included in the Green Package, will stimulate the increase in the share of renewable energy sources in the overall generation mix. This development will have a major influence on the decentralized energy market and thus on the network infrastructure of utilities.
In addition, the future of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, the finalization of the Cogeneration Directive’s technical details and the third energy package will all influence the market for decentralized energy.

Besides this new technologies and high fossil fuel prices will play an important role in stimulating the development of the decentralized energy market. All these factors will force utilities, energy consuming companies and equipment manufacturers to review their strategies and to prepare their business for the changing energy market.

During DECX Europe 2008 industry experts from all over Europe will discuss strategic options, the business challenges and market opportunities facing utilities over the next 10 years.

Key questions will be:

  • Will policy initiatives drive the DE market and what are the consequences for utilities?
  • How should utilities plan the network infrastructure to integrate DE?
  • Are we able to secure our energy supply with the changing generation mix?
  • Will the roll-out of smart metering boost the DE market?
  • Will the DE market be a growth opportunity for utilities?
  • What are the technology scenarios?
